Fun, flirty, and always in fashion—this Checkered Lily is a delightful addition in gardens where it will happily bloom in mid to late spring with the late Daffodils—just before Lily of the Valley blossoms appear. The nodding, bell-shaped flowers are stylishly checkered in deep purple and creamy white.

This fantastic Fritillaria produces slender, silvery-green foliage that requires little space, and the unusual blossoms follow suit, perfectly weaving amongst fuller perennials. Also known as Guinea Hen flowers due to the striking similarities between the blooms and the feather patterns of particular guinea fowl, these unique beauties are must-have conversation starters.

Of course, they are not emerging yet. It is Fall.

I know I love Frittilaria, but it is a bit early to give my review. They are snuggled in the ground and they will give me hope for the anticipated Spring blooms.
