This vigorously motivated grower was the first Hosta ever to receive a plant patent in 1965 and continues to set the bar high for all other varieties. Hosta Royal Standard forms an impressive heap of glossy, green, slightly wavy foliage that's tolerant of the sun and a consistent performer in gardens across the country.
Not only is she accepting of a wide range of weather conditions, but she's also tolerant of less-than-ideal soils, including clay! Sweetly perfumed, funnel-shaped blossoms grace the green foliage in August and September. The fragrant flowers are perched atop 30-40 in. stems and offer an extra element of surprise!
