Nothing evokes the joy of summer quite like Itoh Peony Bartzella's extra-large, vibrant yellow blooms. This successful hybridization of a tree peony and a bush peony manifests the best of both varieties. The flowers form on strong, woody stems within winter-hardy growth, and they keep coming on side shoots for an extended bloom season!

The flowers are truly a vision of magnificence, carrying a rose-like shape with long-lasting appeal. The outer layers are reminiscent of lemon meringue, becoming a more rich yellow tone toward the center. Tucked within the fluffy blossoms are flares of red color. You'll detect a slightly spicy aroma when flowers are in bloom.

The exceptionally sturdy stems on this vigorous hybrid require no staking to support the 6-8" blooms. Bartzella is compact, easy to grow, and sure to bring the sunshine wherever she makes a home!

What a deal!! Order NOW!

In early 2000 my mother asked for a yellow peony for Xmas. My brother and I went in together to fulfill her wish. We found the place in Fort Atkinson, WI that bred the first Yellow Bartzella peony. At that time, bartzellas cost $250.00 a root with a couple eyes. He was sold out of them for pre-order for 2 yrs. The Netherlands and Japan wanted them all! Happy to say we got one and it is still blooming, and increasing in size, today. Lovely peony indeed! I'm sure my mother is watching over it from heaven.

Wonderful plant

Last year I ordered this one along with 2 other regular peonies. I was pleasantly surprised to see it now in full bloom since other peonies I have bought from other sources took at least a few years. Absolutely beautiful and true to its picture! This is my 2nd Itoh peony plant in my collection and I love how much stronger and less in need of a cage to hold the flowers upright. The plant is a must for peony lovers!

I received nice big root with a few pink "eyes" on it. The reason for 4 stars not 5 is the packaging.
