Chicago Hardy Fig Patio Tree | Cold Hardy Fig Trees | Ficus Carica

*Please see shipped as shown photo in 3 inch starter nursery pot*

You’ll love the easy to grow Chicago Hardy Fig. It bears loads of the most delicious, medium sized mahogany-colored fruit, and as the name implies, it’s cold hardy enough to survive Chicago’s cold winters. (Hardy to zone 5 with protection during the winter.)

This fig tree is self-pollinating, so it can be grown successfully on its own, without other varieties present. This plant may die back in colder zones, resuming growth the following spring. However, figs will grow on new wood, so cold winters won't bother this plant! Heat and drought-tolerant once established.

Very easy to grow in containers on patios or porches. They thrive in full sun or dappled shade and typically begin bearing fruit within 2 years, making them a great return on investment!

Beautiful Plants

I just received my shipment of 2 Chicago Hardy Figs. So far so good. The plants came in a pot and potting mix, are quite tall with nice leaves. Much better than the one (single and more $$) I bought earlier in the year from another company - that one was small bare rooted and died quickly.

I’m anxious to see how they perform and will follow up on this review.

I love it. Can't wait to watch it grow and hopefully have figgys in a couple of years.

It arrived in great shape and has proven to be sturdy and resilient. I've tried 2 others but this one looks like it's going to make it.

Chicago Hardy Fig

I ordered the Chicago Hardy starter tree on sale and was pleasantly surprised to receive a much larger tree! It was well-packaged, arrived healthy, and an incredible value. I potted it in a 12-inch about a month ago and it has grown a few more leaves. I'm going to enjoy watching it grow. Also, Easy to Grow has excellent customer service. They were quick to respond and kept me posted on my order. I'm very happy with my purchase!

Thank you for your lovely review of the Chicago Hardy Fig. We are pleased to hear you were happy with our communication and service, too. Enjoy your fig tree -- they are so unique and fun to grow!

Wow! Made it through an Ohio winter!

Almost ashamed to admit this, but I planted this in my garden last year and then completely forgot about it. It came up last month and I had to use a plant ID app to figure it out. 😜 it’s looking great thus far!
